Email blocking

We regret to advise that some mail servers may now be blocked following spam complaints. This could affect genuine email traffic, but we hope this doesn’t happen.

Generally speaking the complaints have been such as un-opted into marketing. For example, in the UK, this year, Mother’s day is on 14 March 2021 , but in the USA it’s on 9 May 2021 and 30 May 2021 in France. This simple differing date of celebration causes complaints.

Complaints have arisen due to marketing emails which send marketing messages on the wrong date and when they have not been opted into, or where the email address owner’s mother has died and this causes more heartache.

A similar offence can be taken for father’s day, or even a valentines marketing message which in the UK is on the 14 February. Some complaints have arisen where a widow or widower has reached the age where they have no plans to find a new partner.

Even Christmas marketing messages have caused a few complaints.

We therefore ask that you only send messages to email address owners who have opted into receiving them, and that you select the correct “celebratory date”.

Blocks have only been approved when there have been multiple abuse reports from a specific IP range.

We thank you and wish you a Happy New Year and thank our Chinese visitors a Happy New Year on 12 February 2021.
